How to stop being so average

Average. Of the usual or ordinary standard, level, or quantity. Having qualities that are seen as typical of a particular person or thing. Mediocre; not very good. Those are all definitions of average as an adjective. What’s the problem with them? Well, they’re just, average. Mediocre. Not very good. Who want’s to be mediocre? If someone were to tell me I’m average, I would take it as a serious insult. We need to STOP being average people. We were all made so uniquely and offer so many special things to the world that nobody else can offer. It’s time we start embracing our true selves and give up on living up to the standards of society.

Spend time with yourself

The most true way to stop being average is to be a loner. I’m not talking like go into hibernation and never interact with people again. But get comfortable spending time alone and getting to know your true self. You are your most truest self when no one is around. Take the time to search your soul and know who you really are. What brings you true happiness that isn’t dependent on other people? How do you want your life to play out? Are you following the right path to get you there or are you lost?

Do something different

Step out of your comfort zone. Nothing great comes from doing the same things over and over again. That’s actually called insanity. Doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results each time. Try something new. My life started getting exciting when I joined a direct sales company selling makeup. I had never been the person to put myself out there in front of people and I didn’t know the first thing about makeup. Though the company may have been a fluke, the amount of confidence I gained and the drive I got to follow my heart and shake what my mama gave me was so worth it.

Get off social media

Social media is hands down the most influential channel in the world. Every second millions of people are posting their opinions about social important matters, pictures of their “perfect body”, commenting on other people’s posts stirring up drama, sharing music videos of rap stars throwing around stack of money. The world is constantly trying to tell us who to be and they are doing it through social media. Wanna know who you are without all the noise? Get off social media. Even if its just for a couple days. You won’t die if you don’t see Kylie Jenner’s newest lip kit at the same time as everybody else.

Never stop learning

Embrace your inner nerd and do some research. Geek out about the super interesting book you picked up about ancient Buddhism. Tell all your friends that you’re going to take up knitting. Sign up for a surf lesson. I don’t care what it is, just continually challenge your mind. You’ll learn new things about yourself along the way. Maybe you will really exceed at what you’ve learned and be able to make a lifestyle out of it. Use it to support your family. If I wouldn’t have challenged myself to learn new craft techniques and work with different materials, I never would have had my business.

I don’t know about you, but I DO NOT want to be remembered for being average. I want to be remembered for who I really am and doing great things with the traits that make me special. So what do you say? Are you ready to stop being so fucking average and sparkle like the diamond you are? What are you going to do to set yourself apart from the rest?
